Public Advocate Candidate Manny Alicandro applauds Amazon Deal

QUEENS, NY- Following the announcement by Amazon that they will not be locating their second headquarters in Queens, Public Advocate candidate Manny Alicandro issued the following statement:

“Amazon’s decision to relocate is a big win for New Yorkers, who now have an opportunity to reclaim 1500 affordable housing units and focus on stimulating local economic growth through opportunity zones. The actions of Mayor de Blasio and Governor Cuomo in offering up billions of taxpayer dollars to the world’s most valuable company were foolhardy and short-sighted at best. As Public Advocate, I will work with city agencies as well as the adminstration in Washington to create sustainable development and job growth without breaking the backs of New York’s hardworking taxpayers. This move is a win for Queens and New York, and now we all can get back to work on making NYC Great Again. “
